We still have some flu vaccinations still available so if you are in an at risk group and you would like your free vaccination please book an appointment with reception or ask when you next attend surgery before the 31st of March 2020.

Appointments access

Winter in the NHS can be challenging and demand for NHS resources are at their highest. We know that this can sometimes mean it's not as easy as we would like for patients to be able to access appointments. We regularly review our appointments system to try to make it as effective as possible at anticipating the ebbs and flows in demand for appointments and even then sometimes demand outstrips supply. We do value all patient feedback and take on board what patients tell us about their difficulties when making appointments, making adjustments to our systems wherever possible.

We encourage patients to consider options for self-care first where possible, seeking advice from their pharmacist or 111 where appropriate and to be open to seeing other healthcare providers within the practice team and wider healthcare support teams too when offered.

We are continuing to make changes and improvements to our appointments system to help with demand.

Important Information regarding our Prescription Service

In November 2019, Sherwood Medical Partnership made changes to our prescription process. We ceased to take prescription requests via telephone and answerphone message.

The practice continues to process prescription requests via

  • System Online
  • Patient drop in prescription box at both sites
  • Pharmacy requests

Any vulnerable patients who are concerned regarding the process for requesting their medication in future are encouraged to contact the practice to discuss available options.

Parents in England are advised to immunise their children as per the national routine immunisation schedule to protect them from vaccine preventable diseases

Unfortunately, in the UK and locally, we are starting to see a steady decline in childhood immunisation uptake. NHS England and NHS Improvement, as the commissioners of the childhood immunisation programme in the Midlands, would like to gain an insight from parents/carers as to why, in some areas, fewer parents are accepting the offer of immunisations for their children.  
We would love to hear your opinion regarding potential barriers that are preventing access to immunisation service and your suggestions as to how we can improve the delivery of immunisation services in your area. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey. It will help us to continually improve immunisation services in the community.

The survey will be collated by the Screening and Immunisation Team (Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire) to improve service quality locally.

We’ve become increasingly aware from patient feedback that patients are experiencing a number of issues when requesting and collecting their repeat prescriptions at both our Farnsfield Surgery and Crown Medical Centre sites.

We recognise the frustration, inconvenience and distress this can cause patients and we are listening to what patients are telling us. We’re working on changes to our prescription system to make it safer, more efficient for patients and to reduce the challenges that patients are experiencing.

We are consulting with patients about these changes through the PPG groups and are working to make sustained changes rather than short term fixes. As such this may take some time to plan and implement but please be assured were working to improve the situation. During this time we ask for your continued patience and welcome feedback regarding the issues you’ve experienced.
